5 TIPS FOR BEATING THE INSTAGRAM ALGORITHM
If you feel like you're doing everything Daddy ‘Gram tells you to, and you’re still being punished - then I got news for you. The truth is there are a lot of things we can’t control about the algorithm (like how often it changes 🙃), but there are some ways that consistently work to win favor with the algorithm, no matter what new thing they dream up. If you want to know how to beat the Instagram algorithm, then you have to play by the rules.
HOW TO BEAT THE INSTAGRAM ALGORITHM
#1 CREATE BINGEABLE CONTENT
Let’s face it: people turn to social media to relax and be entertained. This doesn’t mean you can’t show up with educational or valuable content, but it needs to be bingeable.
Get rid of those paragraph carousels and Reels that take 30 seconds to get to the punchline. Make your information easily consumable. You can do this by adding tending music, adding captions, offering spicy takes, and using interesting transitions.
PS. Don’t repost things with TikTok watermarks on it. Instagram will hate you for it, okay babe?
#2 POST AT THE RIGHT TIME
This is an age-old strategy, and it still applies in 2023. Look at your profile analytics and determine the best time to post daily. (Btw, the suggested posting time is always in PST, so make sure you calculate what time that is for you.) You can also test posting at different times of the day and see which gets the best results.
On the real, your posting time is essential if you want your content to reach more people. If no one engages with your post, Instagram isn’t going to push it onto as many feeds. Finding the right time increases the chances of you getting that must-needed engagement.
#3 INCREASE ENGAGEMENT
I talked about this on a recent blog post, but engagement is a huge determiner of how well your content will perform against the algorithm. If you want to know how to beat the Instagram algorithm, work on increasing engagement by getting people to spend more time on your content. The longer they watch or read, the more likely they are to share, save, like, and comment.
But also, don’t be afraid to ask for it, cowgirl. Every post should have a clear call to action. For instance, ask them to drop a comment or DM you for info.
#4 USE HASHTAGS
Whoever told you hashtags were out was lying to you, babe. Sorry. Every single post, including Reels, should have 15-30 hashtags on it. Hashtags help the Instagram algorithm determine what your post is about so that it can show up in front of the right people.
You can use websites like Hashtag Stack to research the best hashtags for your content. Also, don’t be scared to play around with your hashtags and generate fresh tags for each post.
#5 BE CONSISTENT
Let me be super clear. Consistency does not mean posting every day unless you can keep up with posting every day. 😅 Consistency means following a content calendar that works for you - whether that is once a week or five times a week.
Instagram just wants to see that you continuously show up on a predictable basis. After all, your content fuels the algo.
