I’m about to tell you something that may blow your mind… If you’re DIYing your content creation process, it doesn’t have to feel impossible. I know, I know… as the busiest woman in the world, you thought it was impossible, but I’m here to tell you that’s not the case. You can absolutely find ways to work smarter, not harder, when creating content for your brands social media.
Now before I dig in, let’s cover what ‘content’ actually is. Content is ANYTHING that you create that you share with an audience on social media. This covers copy, captions, graphics, photos, videos… literally anything. So “content creation” is your process on creating ALL of those pieces of content to publish online.
As a booked out social media manager and content creator, I am managing anywhere from 5-8 retainer clients at any given time. In order to deliver results, I need to find a process that works quickly AND converts to a high ROI. Here are my top recos to work smarter, not harder, when creating content:
Start with a content strategy.
Even if you’re not a big planner, having a plan for your social media can release the stress and worry of what to post when. Having a strategy means that every piece of content you share is extremely valuable to your target audience and you’ll continue to attract your ideal client. If you know how to develop your strategy, it will make creating and scheduling posts and videos soooo much easier and faster! Not to mention, you’ll get more engagement and a higher conversion! Having a plan on what to post, how to post, and when to post, cuts down on the head scratching for captions and graphic creation.
Still confused on a strategy or need more guidance on how to create your own? Don’t worry cowgirl, I’ve created a template and FREE guide on how to master this. You can grab it here.
Time block your creative process.
Once you have a strategy down, start time blocking. Time blocking has improved my process time, and my clients time, tremendously. Time blocking is when you associate a certain amount of time (whether minutes, hours, periods, or days) with completing a task and only moving on when the time is complete, not the project itself. I time block days.. For example: Every Monday I work on my content creation for MY brand, i.e graphics, emails, scheduling posts, etc. I work with two clients on Tuesday, another two on Wednesday, etc. This allows my brain to work on ONE thing at a time and not constantly going back and forth between tasks, eliminating wasted time.
Pro tip: Work on creating content for your brand the first of the week instead of pushing it back. The mentality is that you’ll always complete your clients work, but put yours to the side. By completing your brands content first, you guarantee that it will get done.
Purchase graphic templates or caption templates
This will help ease the production of creation. One of my favorite places to look for social media graphic templates is Creative Market! They have a TON of creative options for graphics and it’s impossible to not find something that fits your brands aesthetic. Make sure you grab one that is editable so you can change the elements, fonts, and colors, to match your branding!
As for caption templates, The Social Reco offers two different caption template options for the busy babe! Each of our templates are designed to drive sales, increase engagement, and boost website traffic. I worked with a copywriter to bring my 10+ years of experience and her 7+ years of copy experience into a caption template ebook to make social media copy easy for you! You can shop the different ebooks here.
Repurpose content
Content that has performed well on your page in the past is a road map on what to post now! No need to reinvent the wheel, friend. If content has performed well (pssst check your insights), repost that content or repurpose into another form of content! I.e turn a reel into a carousel, turn a graphic into a video, etc. Based on the saturation alone, you audience won’t know it’s reposted and it’s reaching them in another way!
Outsourcing to a professional
This is the biggest time hack of them all!
