6 INSTAGRAM TRENDS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2023

2022 was the year Instagram gave us some serious whiplash. I think every time we turned around, there was a new feature, an updated algorithm, and different priorities. And while we can’t control Instagram’s changes (although some consistency would be nice, babe), we can look ahead to Instagram trends for 2023 to make decisions about how we create content.

Peep the Instagram trends I am predicting for this upcoming year –

#1 MIXED MEDIA

Kati is dressed up celebrating the Instagram trends of 2023.

People are hanging out on multiple platforms, which is good and bad news. The good news is that through content repurposing, you have multiple chances to get their attention. But the bad news is getting involved in various platforms.

But before you bow out, sis, let’s remember that you don’t need unique content on every platform. You can cross-promote your brand on TikTok, Pinterest, IG, Podcasts, YouTube, and more by simply repurposing what you have.

#2 VIDEO CONTENT

Like it or not, video content remains king in 2023 👑 However, I predict that photo content will make a bigger comeback than it has in the last couple of years.

We’re definitely transitioning into more nostalgic Instagram trends like music on homepages and feeds (hello, MySpace), photo dumps (my Facebook ppl know this one), and keeping it real with blogging content (Tumblr throwback).

#3 STANDING OUT

While photo dumps and static posts are making a comeback, that doesn’t mean you can rely on old tactics to increase engagement.

TikToks and Reels with basic transitions and dull voiceovers are out. So are basic IG photos. Sorry, babe. Instead, Instagram trends are shifting towards high-quality, story-based content. That means you need to stand out in order to make an impact and increase views.

#4 USER-GENERATED CONTENT

ICYMI, user-generated content (UGC) is content created organically by a content creator and then shared by the brand itself. However, Instagram trends will see a slight shift in this. Most UGC in 2023 will be paid-for by the brand and made by the content creator to look natural and organic.

This year, dream up some possibilities for UGC. Think of how you can compensate micro-influences to cross-promote your service or brand – then share this content on your channel as well.

#5 AFFILIATE MARKETING

It’s pretty much expected these days that if someone is sharing about a product on Insta, they probably have an affiliate link – and we like to see it. Affiliate marketing will remain an Instagram trend in 2023.

So, get the bag and collect your benjis by opening an Amazon storefront, Like to Know, securing affiliate partnerships, and more. Reach out to brands and companies you use in your business, so you can authentically spread the word.

#6 QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

Gone are the days of producing tons of IG content or hopping on a trend without any real plan or strategy behind it. Instagram trends in 2023 will show the need for high-quality content – even if that means putting less content out there. Yeah, I said it, babe.

Spend the extra time making sure your content is golden and aligned with your goals and brand.
